How to grind coffee for a percolator
For a coffee percolator, the coarse grind coffee is ideal. It also prevents coffee grounds from getting in your cup.
Blade grinders are the most efficient at coarse grind coffee.
The blade grinder consists of a coffee reservoir and a clear plastic top. In order to grind coffee with a blade grinder, put the coffee beans inside the reservoir and apply some pressure on the top. Give a few shakes during bursts. That way, the coffee grounds will get mixed properly. The grinding process takes approximately 10 seconds.
How to clean a percolator

- Fill your coffee percolator with the solution and turn it on. When the percolation process is over, pour the solution out.
- Repeat the procedure above one more time.
- Then, fill the coffee percolator with water and turn it on. When it is done percolating, turn it off and pour the water out.
- To remove the stains inside of the percolator, put one-half cup of baking soda as well as white vinegar until it starts to bubble. Then, shake the percolator for a couple of minutes by covering the top. Finally, rinse your percolator.
How to use a camping percolator
The camping percolator is a simple coffee maker that includes a vertical tube and a pot.
Start by filling the pot with water. Avoid overfilling it as it will result in a mess and possible burns. Usually, camping percolators have a “fill line” inside.
For regular ground coffee, paper filters are needed to be put inside the basket. For coarsely ground coffee, the filter may not be needed after all.
Next, add the coffee to the percolator and place the basket assembly with a tube inside the percolator. After, put the basket lid on.
Place your coffee percolator on a grate over the fireplace and wait for it to start boiling. Ideally, the flame should be at medium strength.
When it will start to boil, adjust the flame strength down or move the percolator away from the fire. Wait for it to percolate for another 10-15 minutes and then enjoy your fresh hot coffee.
